Orthodontic treatment by definition is a branch of dentistry that specializes in treating patients with improper positioning of teeth. This is also referred to as malocclusion. At Village Square Dental Centre, we offer complete orthodontic care in the Niagara Region. While this treatment is traditionally provided to younger patients, we are pleased to offer solutions for both children and adults.
Class 1 –the maxillary first molar is slightly back to the mandibular first molar and the maxillary canine occludes with the back half of the mandibular canine as well as the front half of the mandibular first premolar.
Class 2 –the maxillary first molar is even with, or anterior to the mandibular first molar and the back surface of the mandibular canine is distal to the front surface of the maxillary canine by at least the width of the premolar. This is shown in a recessed chin facial appearance.
Class 3 –the maxillary first molar is positioned more to the back of the mandibular first molar than normal. This is shown with a protrusive chin and has an outward chin facial appearance.
